Virtual Biotechnology Assistant

There are many different “flavors” of Virtual Assistants: Virtual Personal Assistants, Virtual Administrative Assistants, Virtual Real Estate Assistants, Paralegal Virtual Assistants, Coaches Virtual Assistants, and so forth. I think I may be the only Virtual Biotechnology Assistant, though.

Not only do I do the basic administrative, technical, and creative tasks that you would expect – working with Word, Excel and Outlook, setting up websites, and creating newsletters – but I’ve also worked in a molecular biology lab and have earned a Bioinformatics Certificate. So I’ve done PCR, bacterial DNA purification, and constructed and sequenced bacterial metagenomic libraries. I’ve also designed databases to hold specialized information to track libraries and notebooks, created scientific posters, and, my favorite, used Bioperl to provide detailed reports from BLAST data.

Working with biotech companies isn’t very different from working with companies in other industries. They want value for their dollar, and a VA that is knowledgeable and excited about their work. As a Virtual Biotech Assistant, you get to combine your passion for science with your VA skills. It’s a win-win solution for everyone!

You are definitely the only one I’ve heard of! I’ll be sure to keep you in mind if I hear of someone who needs a virtual biotech assistant!
