Butt Wiggle Diet Update!
2009-01-22 | Filed Under Melodee's Musings, Weight Loss |

It’s 15 down and 10 to go! Pounds, that is.
The Butt Wiggle Diet is still working. (See how skinny the butt is looking?) And it’s all due to Fitday.com. And exercising has helped a bit, too
What’s your favorite exercise DVD, Melodee?
Great question,
Daisy. (She’s the voice in my head. Hmmm, wonder why her name is the same as my mother’s?)
My favorite DVD for the first exercise day of the week (usually Monday, or Tuesday, sometimes Friday) is Leslie Sansone’s 5-mile Walk at Home. Now, I don’t do the whole 5 miles (that would be crazy!) but I do the 3-mile with weights option which is 2-miles of fast walking and then 1 slow mile with light weights. OK, I don’t do the last mile, but the first 2 miles really give me a nice morning wake-up.
The best part of this DVD is the “Music Only” option. Leslie is a sweetheart, but listening to her pep talk more than 20 times is more than I can take. This way I can just watch what she’s doing and listen to the music. I think all exercise DVDs should come with that option. I also love the Prevention exercise DVDs.
Daisy: You’re doing more exercise than that – right?
Well, when you live in Wisconsin there’s always snow shoveling and shivering to increase the calorie burn. And, don’t forget to keep your butt wiggling in your chair while you’re listening to some rockin’ music!
I’m always looking for tips on making this weight loss journey palatable so please leave a comment with your favorites. I’d especially like to know how you work chocolate into your weight loss plans. (I’ve discovered Swiss Miss Sensible Sweets Fat Free Hot Chocolate – only 50 calories!)

Congratulations, Melodee! You’ve made some great progress.
My favourite healthy breakfast now is frozen berries (defrosted in the microwave) with 0% fat natural yogurt, and a whole grain cereal like Grain Shop High Fibre Crisp. It’s like eating a sundae for breakfast!
Thanks, Janet! Your breakfast sounds very healthy and delicious. Add a little hot fudge sauce on top and it will be perfect
Oh yes, I missed the CHOCOLATE part! I really like Dare Simple Pleasures Chocolate Thins. Unfortunately, my usual store doesn’t carry that flavour (though they do have Oatmeal and Dark Chocolate), so it’s a special treat when I can get them.
LOVED this post! I’m still giggling at the introduction to Daisy. (By the way, meet Rebecca, my inner voice!)
Wish I had some tips to share with you, but alas, about the only exercise I get these days is walking down the hill to Perkins to take advantage of their “Buy 3, Get 3 Free!” deal on cookies.
Although, I’m going to keep an eye on this post because I’d LOVE any tips on how to incorporate an easy-to-follow, at-home exercise routine into my day!
For what it’s worth, though, I am a fan of the 100-calorie cookie packs. They taste pretty good and, if you can keep from ripping open two or three bags at a time, it’s a great little snack!
Rachel – I hope Rebecca doesn’t give you as much grief as Daisy does to me
As far as exercise goes, all I know is that if I don’t do it first thing in the morning, it doesn’t get done!
Here’s another chocolate tip – a handful of Ghirardelli 60% cacao chocolate chips makes a nice snack. Eat them one at a time and they can last quite a while. And keep them in the frig – Yum!
I have to exercise first thing in the morning too. Once I sit down at that computer, nothing short of a fire (or a good meal) can get me away from it.
Occasionally I get out for a walk right after lunch and I always wonder why I don’t do it more often…
Loved your post! For all of us that sit at a computer all day, it is very refreshing to get outside and just walk! I am finally able to do that after back surgery and am really enjoying it!
I’ll be back to check out other posts! Keep up the good work and have an awesome day.
Deb
Thanks for the comment, Deb! I need to get out in the fresh air more, too. As soon as it gets a bit warmer here, maybe
