7 Things You Probably Don’t Know About Me

I was tagged by Janet Barclay to post 7 things you probably don’t know about me. It was a tough assignment since I’m not a very exciting person, but I finally came up with some “fun facts”:

  1. I have a fantastic son, Chad Reuter, and a wonderful daughter-in-law, Heidi Normandin. They moved to Denver in July so I’m looking forward to visiting them in March! Chad is a Senior NFL Draft Scout for NFLDraftScout.com. (He loves his football.)
  2. Like Janet, I have always been a voracious reader. I can remember reading Little House on the Prairie books over and over when I was young. Of course I watched the TV series over and over also. :-) Nowadays I read books about business, science, science fiction, the brain, “how-to”s, self-helpers, and some fiction (Janet Evanovich rocks!). I’ve got stacks of books lying around the house waiting to be read.
  3. That leads into the fact that I’m a wannabe writer. I’m going to try to get rid of the “wannabe” part by creating my own series of e-books about Virtual Assistance. They should start being available in January, hopefully.
  4. I am a neutrino geek. If you’ve never heard of neutrinos, they are the coolest subatomic particles you’ve never seen! There are billions of them flying through your body right now, but they’re so small they almost never hit ordinary matter. Don’t worry, I’ll be posting more about neutrinos later. (Bet you can’t wait :-) )
  5. I’m addicted to Spider Solitaire. The Deluxe Mac version. (Well worth the $15.) You don’t even have to move the cards to where you want them to go – you just click the card and it moves itself! My best time for a one suit game is 2 minutes and 40 seconds. Beat that :-)
  6. I have the complete set of Upstairs, Downstairs DVDs. My favorite PBS series of all time.
  7. I’m a Trekker from way back. I’ve even been to a few Star Trek conventions. I didn’t wear a costume or anything. Well, just a Star Fleet Academy T-shirt and some Bajoran earrings.

Well, that’s my list. Now I’m going to tag Rachel Rasmussen, Jessica Maes, and Rita Cartwright. Are you gals up for the challenge?

Melodee, thanks for playing along! Of course, I didn’t know ANY of these facts about you. I loved the Little House books too. And I love Spider solitaire too. I even used to play with actual playing cards (the small ones). Where did I put those, anyway?

We have a lot in common, Janet! Besides Little House and Spider Solitaire, we’re both wildly successful businesswomen and just plain amazingly brilliant ladies. We really must meet up one of these days…

    I would love that!

By the way, one of my dogs came from Wisconsin. :)

Melodee, we have lots in common too. I have 7 children (4 stepchildren and 3 of mine at home). I’m always reading and love Little House on The Prairie books. When I was a kid I watched the TV show and almost always cried at the end of every episode.

I’ve also thought of writing. Mostly though I support my husband’s writing (he’s written two business books this year).

Spider Solitaire is what I do when I need a few minutes break. I love lots of shows on PBS and all the Trek movies.

So, I’ve got two Little House on the Prairie fans, but have either of you visited the Little House sites in Walnut Grove, MN and Pepin, WI??? Hah! Got you there, didn’t I :-)

Yes, I forced my significant other to do some traveling just so I could see where Laura spent a few years. I’d like to go to the sites in South Dakota and Missouri, too.

I still watch the Little House reruns, but I must admit that it’s more to watch Pa than Laura. :-)

Ah….Pa! Yes. It was also a reason to watch Bonanza. I do have a doll around here somewhere that was my “Laura” doll. She was a little prairie girl doll that my grandma bought me and I named her Laura. Some day I’d love to go to visit those places.

    Road trip!!

You and Janet and I will have to go on a Little House Adventure :-)

Sounds great! I was in SD in 1986 but have never been to Wisconsin or Missouri. I have a client in Missouri, so maybe I could somehow make it a business/pleasure trip!

Perfect! I’ll try to find a client in Missouri so I can take the tax deduction.

Let’s wait until the weather is a bit nicer though :-)

    Absolutely!

Enjoyed the seven things we didn’t know about you. What especially interested me was your neutrino reference. Looking forward to learning more about that in your upcoming blogs. Like you wrote, “I can’t wait!” :-)

What fun! I just stumbled across your blog and discover an fellow avid reader AND a fellow Trekkie!

And yes, I love Spider Solitaire.

    Now about these neutrinos…

  13. Melodee Melodee on 2008-12-27 6:45 pm

Hey, Eileen, I’m so glad you’re interested in hearing more about neutrinos! I won’t feel so crazy when I blog about them now :-)

Melodieann, (nice name!)I am a definite Trekkie. Have you been to any conventions? Which Star Trek series did you like the best? I lean towards Next Generation, but I really liked Voyager, too.

enjoyed your blog comments and would like to subscribe. to read more.

I have written two books, but both were over thirty years ago! As a senior citizen with supposedly more time to things and the advert of computers, my friends and family have been strongly urging me to do it again. Your thoughts and ideas add to that push. Maybe I should start a blog first.

As all of our children are now grown adults, married with teen aged children of their own, I get my daily inspiration of young people by driving 112 kids to school each day, both ways.
Two trips are involved each way,
first the younger folk in elementary level and secondly the high school kids.
    Absolutely fascinating and enjoyable.
