6 Life Lessons I Learned This Week
2009-06-06 | Filed Under Melodee's Musings |
It’s been a busy week, but, as usual, I’ve learned some important life lessons along the way. Here are a few of them:
- Exercise can help stave off Parkinson’s disease (http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/parkinsons/)
- Before sending a wire transfer, make sure the receiving bank accepts wire transfers – not all small banks do.
- Clearing off my desk at the end of the day makes the next morning more enjoyable.
- If I don’t schedule time to write and post my blog, it won’t happen.
- To end wrist pain from too much non-ergonomic “mousing”, rest the base of your palm – not your wrist – on the wrist pad.(http://www.yorku.ca/dohs/ergonomics/mousewristrest.htm)
- Pacemakers are good things.
What life lessons did you learn this past week?

I was at FoVA yesterday, so I learned quite a bit. Here’s a sample…
1 – Your marketing budget should be 5-10% of your sales goal.
2 – The most effective testimonials are those that show measurable results.
3 – Clients prefer packages rather than hourly rates because they know exactly what they’ll get and how much it will cost.
4 – Creating an operations manual for my business is no more complicated than what I’ve done in my past jobs.
Those are some great lessons, Janet! #4 is something I really need to do…one of these days…when I have time
